John & Teresa Wicksteed – Owners
With the foresight of John & Teresa Wicksteed the historic ‘Guardian of Whitsand Bay’ has served as the perfect wedding venue for our couples, providing a breathtaking backdrop for celebrations and family gatherings since dropping the drawbridge and throwing open the doors.
Sarah Turpitt – Venue Manager
Sarah is responsible for the smooth running of all operational aspects of the business. With over 20 years’ experience at a senior level, managing venues and catering for discerning clients all over the UK and also New Zealand. Her unflappable nature and keen attention to detail means she is always working to ensure your day goes exactly as planned.
James Buss – Events
A charming and capable Cornishman who is great at keeping his cool during the inevitable moments of orchestrated chaos which can sometimes occur on a wedding day. He’ll ensure all your guests feel welcome and relaxed while quietly keeping your day on track. James has been involved in weddings at Polhawn Fort for many years and he is your first stop for logistical queries.
Gemma Hoskisson – Bookings & Admin Queen
Gemma is passionate about getting it right for you, she’s always ready to help and is quick to offer great suggestions on how to maximise every moment of your wedding experience. She’s our ‘go to’ girl for any venue and accommodation bookings queries. She has loads of ideas for our couples and offers some great advice and tips on how to make the most of Polhawn Fort’s stunning features without spending a fortune.
Kyran Oxford – Operations and Maintenance
If it needs a minor repair, a complete rebuild or a bespoke solution, Kyran and the Estate Team are on hand. Kyran has been involved with every facet of Polhawn Fort’s maintenance and improvements schedule and undertakes his duties with the upbeat attitude that make him an integral part of our team. The skill and expertise of the Estates Team are regularly employed to keep Polhawn Fort looking it’s best all year round.
Ruth Andrew – Weddings and Flowers
Ruth’s lifelong love of flowers has led her to combine her role as the official ‘responsible person’ at weddings with helping our brides decorative dreams come to life. Ruth specialises in bespoke arrangements taylor-made to your budget.
